Inspiration
What is it about inspiration that is so fleeting? One day I'm inspired, the next I'm not. Is it possible to somehow magically live each day in an inspired state? Or does that defeat the point of "being inspired"? Today, as deep as I dug, I just couldn't find it...inspiration.

Food For Thought
Food for thought...we all need a little bit every now and again, right?
"It’s not what’s happening to you now or what has happened in your past that determines who you become. Rather, it’s your decisions about what to focus on, what things mean to you, and what you’re going to do about them that will determine your ultimate destiny."- Anthony Robbins

My obsession with red continues...
These red silk cigarette pants were tweeted into my Twitter timeline a couple of weeks ago and they've been haunting my thoughts ever since. I know I need a lot of unnecessary (ha!) things BUT I really, really, REALLY need these pants. I mean, come on, for one, they're red. Two, they're silk. And three, they're cigarette (i.e. skinny) pants!! How can you go wrong with a lineup like that? That's right, you can't. Wes Gordon really hit the ball out of the park with these.
And if you were a little concerned about what kind of shoes I would wear with these lovely pants, never fear, I've already resolved that little dilemma.

I would go on and on and put a whole outfit together; a top, jacket, accessories, and even tell you how I would style my hair. But, I won't. Instead, I'll just let these two lovely pieces of fashion wonderful-ness settle over your consciousness and quite possibly begin to haunt your thoughts, too.

Scott Disick
Scott Disick. One of many reality tv has given a bad rep and consequently, has caused the loyal reality tv viewing public to develop a love-hate relationship with BUT in spite of our ups and downs with Mr. Disick something must be said about his great style and I don't mind being the one to say it.

The Princess and The Pea
So often I've felt the Princess' pain in this story, some little thing that is just determined to get in the way of my happiness. Anywho, at dinner Friday night, I was recounting this tale to a friend and he didn't believe it was a real fairy tale. He was so adamant in his disbelief that I, too, started to doubt whether it was a real tale or if maybe I had made it up to amuse myself. (Yes, I am aware I give myself WAY more credit than I should, to think that for a day I actually allowed myself to believe that I came up with something as brilliant as 'The Princess and the Pea.' *shakes head at self* Yeah, I'm definitely not lacking in the way of self-esteem. Alas, here's a version of the Dutch tale if you need a refresher...

The Princess on the Pea
Denmark - Hans Christian Anderson
Once upon a time there was a prince who wanted to find a princess, but she would have to be a real princess. So he traveled all around the world to find one, but there was always something wrong. There were princesses enough, but he could never be sure that they were real ones. There was always something about them that was not quite right. So he came home again and was sad, for he so much wanted to have a real princess.
One evening there was a terrible storm. It thundered and lightninged! The rain poured down! It was horrible! Then there was a knock at the city gate, and the old king went out to open it. A princess was standing outside. But my goodness, how she looked from the rain and the weather! Water ran down from her hair and her clothes. It ran into the toes of her shoes and out at the heels. And yet she said that she was a real princess.
"Well, we shall soon find that out," thought the old queen. But she said nothing, went into the bedroom, took off all the bedding and laid a pea on the bottom of the bed. Then she took twenty mattresses and laid them on the pea, and then twenty featherbeds of eiderdown on top of the mattresses. That was where the princess was to sleep for the night.
In the morning she was asked how she had slept."Oh, horribly!" she said. "I hardly closed my eyes all night. Goodness knows what there was in the bed! I was lying on something hard, so that I am black and blue all over my body. It is horrible!"
Now they could see that she was a real princess, because she had felt the pea right through the twenty mattresses and the twenty featherbeds. Nobody but a real princess could be that sensitive.
So the prince took her for his wife, because now he knew that he had a real princess. And the pea was put in the art gallery where it can still be seen, unless someone has taken it.

Sass and Confidence
Lately it seems I'm finding a lot of inspiration from sassy and confident women. Hmm...
That said, after watching Carmen Jones this weekend, I decided I needed to spruce myself up in the way of painting my nails a brilliant shade of red and wearing the reddest (grammar?) lipstick in my possession.

To The Moon, Alice!
Ran across this in Whole Foods last week. Made me envision a spitfire of a woman, that knows exactly what she wants, exactly where she's going, and exactly how to get there. Oh, how I do aspire to be that woman.

Richard Diebenkorn
So I guess it's pretty obvious that art is really important to me. After quite a few museum trips, I've found that the art that moves me most, is usually abstract expressionism. The more abstract and filled with vivid color the piece, the more I love it. That said, a recent trip to the Corcoran Gallery exposed me to yet another abstract expressionist painter whom I now love, Richard Diebenkorn. I've included a few of his works below.
