Part Deux: Glamour...I need more of it.

Thinking of starting a movement to bring back class, elegance, and all things fabulous.  Here seems like a great place to start.

Jae Ko

Over the weekend, I took a trip to the Phillips Collection for their 90th Birthday celebration.  As part of the promo for the event the gallery was free to the public, *read* it was extremely crowded.  Not one to shy away from a crowd, I stood in line (gasp) and waited my turn for entry to the museum.  Once I was finally inside (20 min later), I was pleasantly surprised by the Jae Ko exhibit.  I'm still not able to decide if the exhibit reminds me of a bunch of amoebas squished together or some kind of striated muscle tissue but nevertheless I was thoroughly impressed by the creativity/ingenuity behind the exhibit since it's composed completely of craft paper.  Here are a few other works by Jae Ko, as well as a video on how the exhibit was installed.  Enjoy!

Country Strong

Last weekend, I decided to take the long weekend and fill it with only things that make me happy (except for those damn, non-fat lattes).  But nevertheless, one such thing that did contribute to my happiness was going to see the movie 'Country Strong.'  It was a real tear-jerker and maybe it was because I'm a sentimental, emotional girly sap of a trainwreck but in spite of all that, I still enjoyed the movie.  Of the things I loved most (besides the fact that Gwyneth Paltrow was one of the leading actors), was the soundtrack.  I plan to buy it today and blare it in my car while I'm stuck in outer belt-loop hell.  Here are lyrics up to the first chorus of my favorite song from the soundtrack, 'Give in to me':

I'm gonna wear you down
I'm gonna make you see
I'm gonna get to you
You're gonna give in to me

I'm gonna start a fire
You're gonna feel the heat
I'm gonna burn for you
You're gonna melt for me

Come on, Come on
Into my arms
Come on, Come on
Give into me...

A Good Thing...or Two.

Happy New Year! I know I'm a little late but what else is new?!  Let rhetoric tell it, good things come to those who wait and patience IS a virtue.  So, here we are and for the last several months, I have been on a mission for a snazzy pair of glasses.  No, not sunglasses, just a regular pair of vision-correcting lenses.  And alas, I think I've found the perfect pair.  Only currently, they're made to function as sunglasses. But not to worry, I'm already in plans to retrofit them to meet my poor eyesight having needs.  While drooling over MY glasses, (yes, I'm claiming them) I also stumbled upon this chic houndstooth driving cap.  Just picture that...me driving AND being able to see...and at the same time! Now, how's that for a good thing...or two?!  :)
